I'm Karen Hardy, An Independent Candidate
For Mayor.

I Care Deeply About this Community
In my 40+ years living here, I have worked to protect our quality of life and economic stability.
I am working regionally to protect our strained water resources and preserve the communication network between all public safety agencies. This is why I promise to continue to vote for the best city services possible.
I understand the problems that our teachers face and I promise to support them as mayor.

Less Talk, More Action -
Real Solutions for Santa Clara

My Plans for Santa Clara
The Services the city is charged with, should be the best we can offer! I will work on:
-
Making housing more affordable by approving a wider variety of housing units, including mixed-use zoning, for more housing and businesses.
-
Keeping utility fees down (we have the lowest electrical rates for a large supplier in California)
-
Improving, maintaining infrastructure - especially the water system.
-
Great City services -
-
Police & Fire
-
Water, Sewer, Electrical & road maintenance
-
Parks and recreation programs
-
My governance style is - engagement, transparency, and decency.
My personal belief is that EVERYONE is important, and every resident of Santa Clara has a voice worth hearing.
I have years of experience in local governance and community service, I understand the challenges our city faces, and I am committed to finding effective solutions to accomplish these goals.
Stance on Data Centers:
-
Do it SMART or not at all
-
Carbon neutral Electricity
-
Reclaimed and/or Closed Loop water
-
Data Center pays for the needed infrastructure
-
In industrial areas only
-
Per state law no mega Data Centers - must be 99 MW or less
Almost 41 million dollars from Data Centers (13% of the city budget) was from Data Centers last year. Santa Clara has more than 55 Data Center (largest concentration on the West Coast) but we are near saturation.
